Bendigo horse betting preview

‘The Nursery of Champions’ hosts a competitive eight-race card on Thursday afternoon, and there looks to be plenty of value to be found throughout the day. The track at Bendigo is rated a Soft 5 at the time of writing after some consistent rain early in the week. The rail is out 3m the entire circuit, so every runner should get their chance on the day if they are good enough. The first race is scheduled to jump at 1pm AEDT.

Best BetRace 3 – Diamonds In The Sky (#2) Get the best odds

Craig Williams heads to Bendigo for the one ride on Thursday, and it is with this Peter Moody-trained filly who chased home a couple of handy types on debut before being sent to the paddock. She is well placed to break her maiden tag in just her second career start, with only one obvious danger in the Tony McEvoy-trained Zoushine. If she can replicate the form she showed on debut and has come back any better than that, there should not be any excuses for Diamonds In The Sky.

Next BestRace 7 – Baaqyah (#7) Get the best odds

The in-form Dabernig & Hayes stable will be hoping this three-year-old filly can notch up her second win of the campaign with Michael Poy on board. She maps to get a cart across the field from barrier seven and, with a little bit of luck, should find herself in a prominent position. Two starts back, she chased home the potential superstar Written Beauty and was far from disgraced that night at The Valley. If she can replicate the form that saw her win at Donald three starts back, there’s no reason why she can’t be fighting out the finish.

Best ValueRace 8 – Yoshi Mokuyo (#1) Get the best odds

Off a four-week freshen up, we’ll be hoping Kylie Vella’s gelding can send us home a winner at nice odds. He was an impressive victor at Swan Hill in late October after being a notable drifter in the market. Although drawn in gate 12, the five-year-old has the pace to overcome the tricky barrier and should have no trouble in finding a position just off the pace. If he is afforded any early luck, he should be hard to hold out.
