Bendigo horse racing preview – Tuesday, March 2

Victoria’s autumn racing program gets underway this Tuesday afternoon with an eight-part card at Bendigo Racecourse. The track has come up a Good 4, the rail is out 9m for the entire circuit, and each runner should get their chance thanks to the long home straight. Racing is set to get underway at 1:30pm AEDT.

Best Bet: Tictoc Tictoc

The Anthony Freedman-trained Tictoc Tictoc showed enough in her first-up run at Yarra Valley to suggest she will be better next time out. She is a filly who makes her own luck up on speed, and the lack of early pace in this race leaves her well placed to break her maiden at start three. On debut back on September 4 she ran into the likes of Cambourne and Redwood Shadow, who have both shown plenty of ability in their respective three-year-old campaigns. Stepping up to the mile second up under the riding of Jye McNeill looks to be the perfect recipe for the Tavistock filly.

Best BetRace 3 – Tictoc Tictoc (#12) $2.70 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Zorro’s Dream

From one Freedman to another, this time we look at Mitchell Freedman and his perennial bridesmaid Zorro’s Dream. The Toronado gelding has had eight career starts and has run in the money on all but one occasion. With only one win and six minor placings, he has not been a punter’s pal; however, it looks to be his day at Bendigo on Tuesday. He will settle towards the second half of the field, but a sharp enough turn of foot will make him hard to hold out in the second leg of the quaddie.

Next BestRace 6 – Zorro’s Dream (#2) $4 with Sportsbet

Best Value: She Won’t Leave

The Tayne Davies-trained She Won’t Leave looks well placed to go one better than her last-start second at Benalla on February 19. John Robertson retains the ride, and the extra 150m here should suit her perfectly. The mare was one of the widest runners at Benalla when turning, but when she balanced up she showed enough to suggest she can win this. From barrier 10 she will settle in the second half of the field and look to savage the line late.

Best ValueRace 5 – She Won’t Leave (#10) $8.50 with Sportsbet
