What Bendigo Races
Where Bendigo Jockey Club – Heinz St, White Hills VIC 3550
When Sunday, August 8, 2021
First Race 12pm AEST

Bendigo is set to host an eight-race card on Sunday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Victorian racing tipster has picked out his best bets and quaddie numbers with odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Soft 7 with the rail returning to the true position, and the meeting is set to commence at 12pm AEST.

Bendigo Best Bet: House Spouse

The Patrick Payne-trained House Spouse comes to Bendigo following an impressive debut win at Echuca on June 26. The win came on a Heavy 10 when settling three wide without cover and he still managed to put over six lengths on his closest rival, suggesting he was a horse to follow. He strikes a similarly wet track on Sunday and gets the services of senior jockey Jye McNeil, and in the small field of eight he should be close to the speed upon settling. He showed a sharp turn of foot over 1200m, and the step up to 1300m second-up looks ideal.

Next Best at Bendigo: Typhoon Harmony

In the final race of the day, we are siding with the Peter Galagotis-trained Typhoon Harmony once again, despite a poor showing at Morphettville on July 17. The son of Written Tycoon returns to Victoria and will gain the services of Jye McNeil on Sunday for the first time. He has proved to be a tactically versatile horse and will look to settle in the first six over 1400m. As long as Typhoon Harmony doesn’t get trapped three wide, as he did two starts back at Geelong, he should enjoy remaining at 1400m. He has a sharp turn of footy and will prove hard to hold out in this BM70 field.

Bendigo Value Bet: Lady Tavista

Peter & Paul Snowden send Lady Tavista to Bendigo following a third-place finish at Sale on July 25. The five-year-old mare has not finished outside of the top three in three runs on Soft going, so she will appreciate the sting out of the ground this weekend. The daughter of Tavistock managed a second career win when first-up this campaign on the Ballarat synthetic, suggesting she has come back in fine form. Form barrier seven, with Jack Hill on board once again, we expect to see her settle in the second half of the field as she looks to round her rivals up with a swooping run.

Best ValueRace 7 – Lady Tavista (#14) $9 with Sportsbet
