Wednesday racing tips for Bendigo

Racing returns to Bendigo this Wednesday as the ‘Nursery of Champions’ hosts what looks a high-quality meeting with consistent city performers scattered throughout the card.

The track came up a Good 4 on Tuesday, but with rain forecasted for Wednesday afternoon in Bendigo, that may change as the meeting goes on. The rail is back in the 3m position for the entire circuit after being out to the 9m mark when we last raced here on September 16, so it will pay to see how the first couple of races are run.

The first of eight is set to jump at 1:30pm AEDT.

Best BetRace 5 – The Gauch (#4) $3.70 with Sportsbet

In what looks a competitive race, the Maher & Eustace stable should be quite confident heading in with this 4YO stallion. He looked to have plenty left in the tank when scoring quite easily in similar company three weeks ago at this track, so he is a genuine chance to get the hat-trick of wins on the board. The start prior at Mornington he got the job done by five lengths on heavy going after travelling three wide with no cover. The Gauch is yet to run outside of the quinella, while he has shown he can prosper on both wet and dry surfaces.

Next BestRace 4 – River Twain (#3) $5.50 with Sportsbet

Mick Price and Michael Dee team up with an in-form 3YO gelding who was narrowly beaten at The Valley back on September 25. From barrier five he maps to be up on pace in a race with plenty of speed engaged, so he should find a nice sit behind the leaders. He’s approaching peak fitness and gave nothing else a chance when leading all the way at Geelong two starts back. If he runs to the form of this campaign so far, River Twain will prove hard to hold out.

Best ValueRace 2 – Under His Eye (#5) $14 with Sportsbet

David Bourne’s 4YO gelding has seemingly improved out of sight at her last two starts at Benalla over the past month. Jumping from barrier three, he will be fighting out the finish in what looks a competitive race. He looked to be the winner at the 200m mark at Benalla a fortnight ago on soft ground, so it appears he won’t be at a disadvantage if the rain comes.
