What Bendigo Races
Where Bendigo Jockey Club – Heinz St, White Hills VIC 3550
When Wednesday, April 14, 2021
First Race 1pm AEST

HorseBetting.com.au brings you all the top odds, best bets and quaddie selections for the eight-race card scheduled for Bendigo on Wednesday afternoon. The track has seen a fair bit of traffic over the past month, so it is no surprise to see the rail out 8m for the course on what is a Good 4 surface. Racing is set to get underway at 1pm AEST.

Best Bet: Michigan

Mike Moroney will be hoping Michigan can make it consecutive victories to begin his campaign. Having smashed his rivals first up at Sandown over 1200m, the Written Tycoon gelding steps up to 1300m and looks hard to beat in the final race on the Bendigo card. This will be his first run on a firmer track, and from barrier one he should be smoking the pipe just off the leaders’ heels throughout. Bendigo has been the scene for horror watches on runners jumping from the inside gate in the past, so we think only bad luck will stop Michigan in bringing up consecutive wins with Mark Zahra on board.

Best BetRace 8 – Michigan (#7) $2.20 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Fan Club

The Phillip Stokes-trained Fan Club heads to Bendigo looking to break her maiden at start five, having finished no worse than third in her four-start career. The Pins filly is coming off a last-start second when well backed at Pakenham on April 1. Luke Nolen hops back on board having missed the ride at Pakenham, and from barrier six he should have no issue in settling the filly up on speed considering the lack of pace drawn underneath her. If given the opportunity, expect to see Fan Club settle in the one-one and use the long straight at Bendigo to go through the gears.

Best Value: Excuses Excuses

We were with the Paul Pruesker-trained Excuses Excuses when he took out a Class 1 on March 21 at Ballarat to make it back-to-back victories. While he goes up 2kg on that last-start success, he looks to get a similar run in transit as he did two starts back at Bendigo when breaking his maiden over the 1300m. Stepping up to the mile for the first time in his career looks ideal for this fourth-up run, and as long as he can handle the rise in weights and trip, he should be fighting out the finish.

Best ValueRace 6 – Excuses Excuses (#2) $9 with Sportsbet
