Bendigo racing preview

What Bendigo Races
Where Bendigo Jockey Club – Heinz St, White Hills VIC 3550
When Tuesday, December 5, 2023
First Race 1pm AEDT

Victorian thoroughbred action heads to Bendigo Racecourse on Tuesday afternoon, where a bumper 10-race meeting awaits punters. A perfect summer’s day is forecast for the region on Tuesday, with a top of 33 degrees forecast. Despite the rail being out 9m, the Good 4 track rating should see every runner get there chance of success if good enough. Racing from the ‘Nursery of Champions’ is set to commence at 1pm AEDT.

Best Bet at Bendigo – Dismount

The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Dismount went down by the barest of margins at Kyneton on November 20 and looks to be well-placed to go one better at Bendigo. Since breaking his maiden on debut three starts ago, the son of Trapeze Artist has finished second in his next two starts and should be beating this lot. Luke Cartwright’s 3kg claim gets bay gelding in nicely at the weights with 58kg on his back, and from barrier four, the pair should have no issues stalking the speed throughout. Barring any bad luck, Dismount should be taking his record to two wins and two seconds from four starts.

Next Best at Bendigo – Fields Of Jenni

Andrew Noblet’s Fields Of Jenni has managed to put forward consecutive seconds in two runs this campaign and gets her chance to go one better on Tuesday afternoon. The four-year-old mare has been beaten less than a length combined in those starts, but in a race where she should gain a relatively quiet lead, she is going to take a power of beating. Declan Bates has ridden her in five of her six career starts, and as he hops back on board, he should be steering Fields Of Jenni to her maiden win at start seven.

Race 4 – Silk #4 Fields Of Jenni (3)

Next Best Again at Bendigo – Scottie’s Legacy

We’re happy to side with Scottie’s Legacy as Mark Walker and Damian Lane look to taste success as a trainer/jockey partnership for the first time since Walker’s move to Cranbourne. The three-year-old filly hasn’t been seen since producing an eye-catching run when runner-up on debut at Tauranga on October 18. The Almanzor filly rattled off some brilliant closing sectionals when beaten a length on a Soft 6. She gets on to firmer going for her Australian debut, and a repeat effort to what she put forward on debut, Scottie’s Legacy should prove hard to beat.

Next Best Again

Race 3 – Silk #12 Scottie’s Legacy (3)

3yo Filly | T: Mark Walker | J: Damian Lane (56.5kg)
