Bendigo quaddie tips and specials for Thursday, September 28

quaddie of the week

THE Thursday quaddie returns to rural Victoria after an unfortunate set of circumstances shafted us on back-to-back quaddies last week.

Firstly, our Wangaratta one went down following a big-priced winner, while getting nosed out on the second leg of the quaddie at Pakenham broke our hearts.

Despite the narrow loses, we have been going well on the tip and we believe we have put together a quaddie that should deliver a dividend come Thursday afternoon.

Race five on the card is a benchmark 64 event over the 1100m trip, which kicks off the quaddie at 3.30 pm.

Race 5 – BM64 (1100m)

Mr Coyne is a horse that has had great success over the course and distance. Winning three of eight attempts at Bendigo over the 1100m journey, the five-year-old mare is also no stranger to the class where it has won previously before.

Steel Caps was a stylish winner at at Wangaratta last week and a win of that calibre will boost connection’s confidence that a preparation of success could be on the cards. We were on hand to see the win at Wang and we think it is a sign of things to come.

Our Boy Charlie is in a great run of form recently. Finishing inside the first four in its last four races, the six-year-old is in glittering form and we think a win is just around the corner.

Race 6 – BM64 (2400m)

Benny Goes Berzerk has been in great form recently and will be looking to continue that into Bendigo’s meet at Thursday. Placing in two of its last three races, the Weir-trained four-year-old will be right in the mix come the post.

Five-year-old Pop Queen is an exciting prospect. We have a high opinion of the five-year-old, that while has only registered one career win to date, it has placed in six other outings across 11 attempts. We think once the winning penny finally drops we could see a progressive horse.

Hellava Babe is only narrowly went down by a nose 21-days ago and comes into Thursday as a genuine winning threat. This will be just the horse’s ninth career start, but it has never been too far off the pace in any of those runs.

Race 7 – BM64 (1600m)

Overstay looks to be the best horse in this field. This go-forward type was brilliant last time out at Kilmore, setting the pace and punching strongly to the line to record a hard-fought win. Having won over the course and distance is a big tick and we expect another strong showing.

Lightly-raced Ivankas Fire only true failure to date came at Wagga Outside that eighth placed finish the mare has won and finished second, as well as recording a fourth placed finish. This horse is a progressive type in the making and more than capable of taking this one out.

While Almalita’s recent form doesn’t read all that great it is dropping back considerably in grade and will a huge threat on Thursday. Resuming after tackling some big autumn races, the Waterhouse and Bott runner will be setting itself up for a big spring campaign that hopefully kicks off in winning style in Bendigo.

Race 8 – BM58 (1400m)

The form of Red Gateau cannot be denied and we think it is the best horse in the field. Having missed the placings just once since December of last year, the gelding has confronted some smart types recently. Dropping back in grade will help and we are backing the horse to be right in the finish.

Big John Cannon is second up today and it has previously placed at this point in the preparation in the past. The horse is backing up a strong win at Benalla at the beginning of the month and while it received a sight penalty for that run we think the horse is capable of overcoming it.

Celestial Freddie put in a huge run at Pakenham last week at $21 and we are expecting a similar run Thursday, albeit not at those odds. The horse has never missed a placing at the distance and is undefeated at the track. It all bodes well for a strong performance at Bendigo.
