HorseBetting’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets, quaddie numbers and odds comparison for the Bendigo meeting set to be run on Sunday. The track is rated a Heavy 8, with the rail in the true position the entire circuit for the meeting set to get underway at 11:40am AEST.
Best Bet: Ayahuasca
The Mick Price and Jamie Kah combination is always one to follow, and that is what we’re doing when they combine with Ayahuasca early on the Bendigo card. The Tavistock three-year-old filly was last seen running home nicely into third on the Sandown Lakeside track on June 2 when setting midfield and going down by just over half a length. From barrier seven, under Kah, expect the filly to find cover midfield for her first look at Bendigo, she should appreciate the long home straight where she can build through the gears and hopefully finish over the top of her rivals to bring up a second career win from four starts.

Next Best: Alumna
In the penultimate race on the Bendigo card, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Alumna will take some running down second-up from a spell. She was a smart winner at Geelong back on June 6 over 1300m and stepping up to 1600m here at Bendigo looks ideal. Her form was franked on Friday when the horse who finished second came out and won its next start in smart style. The four-year-old Shooting to Win mare gets an important gear change with D. Oliver on for the first time. Expect Ollie to look for the lead from barrier 5 and in a race where she should get her own way out in front, it should be simple sit and steer type of job for Oliver.
Race 8 – Alumna (#6)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372378_08]
Best Value: Flying Agent
The winner of the Brierly Steeplechase Flying Agent would much prefer there to be jumps to go over at Bendigo, but we expect his staying abilities and wet track form to bring him right into calculations in the opening leg of the quaddie. His confidence is at an all-time high having won three of his past four starts including that feature at the Warrnambool May Racing Carnival. Look for John Allen to settle him towards the rear of the field and when asked for an effort 600m out from home, with a bit of luck he can be finishing right over the top of his rivals.
