It’s Black Heart Bart Stakes Day at Belmont, where the weather is set fair and the track has come up a Good 4. The feature race is the last of the black-type events at Belmont for the winter season before the Ascot Racing Carnival gets underway. The first race is set to jump at 12:18pm AWST, while the rail is in the true position.
Saturday racing tips for Belmont
This is another Grant and Alana Williams galloper with a bright future and an already impressive record. Leading Girl has only missed the placings once from 10 starts, but that was two years ago. She goes at 50% at Belmont and will look to add her fifth win to a near bombproof record. Last time out she was five lengths off the leaders when cornering and went on to score by almost a length, and that electric turn of foot should prove too much for this lot.

Coming into this off a five-month spell, Gemma’s Son was narrowly beaten when sent out favourite in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate in April. Prior to that, this 3YO colt for David Harrison was unbeaten after four starts. He resumes in a six-horse field where he may just get his own way up front. The main danger in the race will be giving the top weight a few lengths’ head start, and that may prove pivotal in the outcome.

We’re going with a track and distance specialist in the Black Heart Bart Stakes. The 5YO gelding for Stephanie Bakranich was afforded no favours last time out when three wide with no cover and beaten a nose. We think he is ready for the step up in class and maps to get the run of the race from barrier two. You may get a better price on race day.
