Belmont is set to host its weekly nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Western Australian tipster presents his best bets and quaddie numbers with odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Soft 5, the rail returns to the true position, and racing is set to commence at 12:03pm AWST (2:03pm AEST).
Belmont Best Bet: Iseered Iseered
Our best bet on the Belmont card comes up in the Jolly Beggar Stakes when the Luke Fernie-trained Iseered Iseered steps out over 1000m. The four-year-old Safegaurd gelding produced an eye-catching display first up from four month-spell to do his best work late and finish over the top of his rivals. Having drawn barrier one, we expect Paul Harvey to lob him into the box seat behind the leaders, a position he took a liking to last campaign. With four wins and two minor placings from eight starts, Iseered Iseered is clearly the best horse in the race, and it looks to be that only bad luck will see him get beaten here.
Race 8 – Iseered Iseered (#8)Next Best at Belmont: La Farola
In the opening leg of the quaddie, the Michael Lane-trained La Farola will look to go one better than the effort she put in over the Belmont 1400m on August 21. That second-place finish came behind the smart The Notorious One having taken the lead late just to find that one better. The four-year-old Deep Field mare has a strong affiliation with Belmont having finished second at two of her three starts at the track. From barrier three, we expect Chris Parnham to have La Farola in the moving line so he can the push the button on her when the moment arises. If she runs to a similar level as she did last time out, she should be simply too good.
Race 6 – La Farola (#6)Best Value at Belmont: Rocky Path
Vaughn Sigley brings his five-year-old mare Rocky Path back to Belmont following a narrow defeat over 1200m on August 21. Having settled last in the field of nine, the Therock mare showed a nice turn of foot and ran on strongly to go down by half a length despite still trailing by a fair margin entering the home straight. From Patrick Carberry can settle her closer to the speed from barrier five, and if she can replicate a similar turn of foot on Saturday, we expect Rocky Path to give this race a shake as she steps up to 1400m.
