Belmont Park in Perth is set to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Western Australian racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie selections for Belmont Oaks Day. The track is rated a Soft 7 with rail out 6m for the entire circuit, and the first race is scheduled to go at 11:59am local time (1:59pm AEST).
Belmont Oaks: Tri For Us
We have been with the Adam Durrant-trained Tri For Us at each of her last three starts for a win and two minor placings, and we are sticking with her in the Listed Belmont Oaks. The three-year-old Vital Equine filly was last seen finishing third when beaten two lengths by Sheza Chalmer, who she meets again on Saturday. From barrier four we expect Chris Parnham to have her settled in the one-one, where he will most likely keep her main rival boxed in until the last possible moment. With a bit of luck, Tri For Us cans see out the 2000m and turn the tables on Sheza Chalmer.

Aquanita Stakes: Tena Koutou
We expect Adam Durrant to make it a feature double on Saturday at Belmont when he saddles up Tena Koutou in the Aquanita Stakes. Having won in impressive fashion at Kalgoorlie and Pinjarra at his past two starts, the son of Blackfriars looks well placed to bring up his first stakes win as he returns to Belmont. From barrier 12 we expect Clint Johnston-Porter to look for cover one off the rails, and if the gelding brings the turn of foot he has shown at the provincial level, he will take some holding out over the concluding stages of the 2000m.

Belmont Best Bet: I’m Pretty
We were with the Adam Durrant-trained I’m Pretty on June 19, and she duly rewarded us with a soft win as she charged home from the rear of the field. The five-year-old Dash For Cash mare is set to reunite with William Pike once more, and from barrier three we expect Pikey to have her in the moving line and ready to pounce in the home straight. She has a sharp turn of foot which she showed a fortnight ago, and you would think all she needs to do is bring that form here to make it three wins from three starts this campaign.

Next Best at Belmont: Comfort Me
In the opening leg of the Belmont quaddie, the Rhys Radford-trained Comfort Me is looking to make it a hat-trick of wins and remain undefeated over the Belmont 1400. Two starts back the four-year-old gelding managed to hold out Sheza Chalmer, who goes around as an odds-on favourite in the Belmont Oaks, so the form is strong. From barrier nine under Jade McNaught, we expect Comfort Me to settle outside the leader, if not in the one-one, and with race fitness on his side he should be hard to run down.

Best Value at Belmont: Jag The Joker
The Ashley Maley-trained Jag The Joker is a favourite of ours, and we cannot ignore the $15 on offer for her this weekend. She was beaten under a length over the Belmont 1200m on June 19 and was nosed out by Dunbar, who is pegged as a $3.20 favourite for this race. Having gotten in better at the weights than her rival, we would rather take the double-figure price on offer for Jag The Joker. She will look to take up the running and should prove hard to run down.
