Belmont Park is scheduled to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Western Australian betting expert presents his best bets and top quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track is rated a Heavy 8 with the rail back in the true position, and the action is set to get underway at 12:07pm AWST (2:07pm AEST).
Belmont Best Bet: Storm Commander
We do not need to look too far in the form guide for our best bet on the Belmont card, as the Neville Parnham-trained Storm Commander is a standout in the opening event. The two-year-old son of Rommel has not finished outside of the quinella in his two career starts and broke his maiden over the 1100m after gaining a gun run in transit. He only goes up 2kg from that last-start win, so he should have no issue kicking clear when Chris Parnham asks for an effort.

Next Best at Belmont: The Spruiker
We will be looking to bookend the card when the Steve Wolfe-trained The Spruiker steps out in the final event searching for his fourth win in a row. All three of those wins have come at Belmont and the previous two have come over the 1400m which he faces on Saturday. This will be his first crack at a Heavy surface, but with two wins from two starts on rain-affected ground we anticipate that he will handle the going without any qualms. Expect to see Shaun McGruddy settle him in the one-one just off the leaders’ heels, and when asked for an effort at the top of the straight he should prove too hard to hold out in the last leg of the quaddie.

Best Value at Belmont: Poker Face
In the second leg of the quaddie we are happy to be with the Paige Kenney-trained Poker Face, who is looking to make it three wins in a row. He led all the way over this track and distance on June 30 when carrying 55kg, and we expect the three-year-old filly to do something similar on Saturday. With Beaux Banovic-Edwards on board and claiming 3kg, the filly goes around with just 51kg on her back and from barrier seven should have no issue finding the front, dictating terms and kicking clear.
