Belmont tips for July 10, 2021

What Beaufine Stakes Day
Where Belmont Park – Saintly Entrance, Burswood WA 6100
When Saturday, July 10, 2021
First Race 10:48am AWST

A mammoth 11-race card is scheduled for Belmont on Saturday afternoon for Beaufine Stakes Day, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Western Australian tipping expert presents his best bets, value picks and top quaddie numbers. The meeting is set to be run on a Heavy 8 track with the rail out 13m for the entire circuit, while the first field is set to face the starter at 10:48am local time (12:48pm AEST).

Beaufine Stakes Tip: Miss Conteki

In the featured event of the day, the Simon Miller-trained Miss Conteki looks perfectly placed to claim her first stakes win. The four-year-old mare had strung together six straight wins prior to her narrow defeat over this track and distance on June 26 where she simply could not run down a leader who kicked clear. She meets that same rival, Longbeach, again on Saturday, this time 2.5kg better off at the weights, and with William Pike hopping back on board, she is clearly the one to beat. Pike is undefeated aboard the mare from three starts, and from barrier nine he can go back in the field and get Miss Conteki building through the gears before she lets down and proves too hard to hold out.

Beaufine Stakes TipRace 8 – Miss Conteki (#7) $3.30 with Sportsbet

Belmont Best Bet: Vane Tempest

Having won three of his past four races, including at this track and distance on June 26, the Paige Keeney-trained Vane Tempest looks a clear best bet on the Belmont card. Victoria Corver, who claims 3kg, sticks on board, which is a bonus to the three-year-old filly’s chances, and from barrier three they draw to do no work in the run. Vane Tempest has won both of her starts over the 1000m, and with five wins from 10 careers she is clearly a filly on the way up. She should be too good for this one-metro-win field.

Best BetRace 7 – Vane Tempest (#1) $2.25 with Bet365

Next Best at Belmont: Puli

One of the better bets on the card comes in the final event of the day when the Darren Taylor-trained Puli steps out over the 1200m. The four-year-old Dick Turpin gelding has a clear liking for the Belmont 1200m having won four of his five races at this track and distance, with his one blemish being a runner-up performance. It is hard not to like the racing pattern of Puli, who likes to jump fast and dictate terms throughout, and he looks the one to beat. Holly Watson’s 3kg claim brings the weight down to 55.5kg, just 1.5kg above the minimum, so they should be too quick for this lot.

Next BestRace 11 – Puli (#4) $2.60 with Sportsbet

Best Value at Belmont: Cross Statement

The Jim Taylor-trained Cross Statement presents good value at Belmont on Saturday based on his dominant win at Northam two starts back and his close second behind Ghost Who Walks over this track and distance on June 30. The three-year-old Press Statement gelding jumps cleanly from the barriers and likes to search for the rail, and we expect him to do just that on Saturday. With regular jockey Jason Brown sticking on board, the pair look hard to beat. With a 2kg weight relief on the horse that beat him last time out, we expect Cross Statement to be too good this time round.

Best ValueRace 6 – Cross Statement (#7) $7.50 with Sportsbet
