Belmont Park is scheduled to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s West Australian form analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers with odds from the top online bookies. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is out 6m for the entire circuit, and the meeting is set to get underway at 11:18am AWST (1:18pm AEST).

Belmont Best Bet: Brave Dream

Our best bet on the Belmont card comes when Adam Durrant and William Pike combine with last-start winner Brave Dream in the opening leg of the quaddie. Having given her rivals a start from the rear of the field, the five-year-old mare managed to reel in her rivals late on and score in eye-catching fashion. Despite rising 2.5kg, the field she faces on Saturday is no harder than what she defeated on August 14. Even though Pike is yet to find himself in the minor money when aboard the mare from five starts, we expect her last-start win to give her the confidence to go on with it at this stage in her career. In the field of 10 she shouldn’t be too far from the speed, and the daughter of Declaration Of War will be hard to catch if she shows a similar turn of foot to what she produced last time out.

Next Best at Belmont: Kaptain Kaos

The Michael Grantham-trained Kaptain Kaos returned in fine fashion at this track and distance when storming home down the centre to salute on August 7. We have been a big fan of this gelding’s work, as he has won four times from eight starts and has only missed the top three on one occasion. The four-year-old son of Demerit has shown to be tactically versatile, as he can get the job done from the rear of the field or take a sit just off the speed. From barrier eight under Chris Parnham on Saturday, we anticipate he will go back from the wide barrier and look to run over the top of them. If he can replicate the turn of foot similar he showed first-up, Kaptain Kaos should be simply too good for his rivals in the last race of the day.

Next BestRace 9 – Kaptain Kaos (#5) $2.80 with Sportsbet

Best Value at Belmont: Story Book

The Trevor Andrews-trained Story Book returns to the Belmont 1000m following a close second-place finish behind Hardly Ever at the track and distance on August 18. The three-year-old Lucky Street filly has been racing in consistent form her entire career with a win and two minor placings to her name from five starts, with her only misses coming when competing in the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes and then running into The Front Bar two starts back. With a genuine tempo expected, look for Story Book to get back in the field and then finish over the top of them under a well-timed steer from Shaun McGruddy.

Best ValueRace 3 – Story Book (#7) $9 with Sportsbet
