What Belmont Guineas Day 2022
Where Belmont Park Racecourse – Saintly Entrance, Burswood WA 6100
When Saturday, June 18, 2022
First Race 11:59am AWST

Nine races will be run and won at Belmont in the west this Saturday, including a star-studded Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m). HorseBetting’s Western Australian racing analyst presents you with his best bet in the feature, as well as his best bets and quaddie numbers throughout the remainder of the afternoon. The track is rated a Soft 5 and the rail is out 7m for the entire course.

The first of nine is scheduled for 11:59am AWST.

Belmont Guineas Best Bet – Otheroneson

The market has it down to three chances – Devoted, Rokanori and Otheroneson – in Saturday’s three-year-old feature. We are with the latter, who is yet to miss the quinella in all seven of his starts. The Daniel Morton-trained son of Demerit has been very good this preparation, winning his last two starts in good fashion. He has shown he doesn’t have to lead at all costs, coming from near last as an odds-on favourite over 1400m at this track on June 4 to win by three-quarters of a length. While Devoted and Rokanori both come out of the Raconteur Stakes, Otheroneson is the horse we want to be with.

Best Bet at Belmont – Rumour Says

Sometimes, little fish are sweet, so we are more than happy to take the short price about the first horse in the race book, Rumour Says. The Luke Fernie-trained filly was an arrogant winner on debut over 1000m here at Belmont, pulling clear to win by nearly two lengths. Clint Johnston-Porter is in the saddle yet again and barrier seven allows the pair to cross over, be handy and then sprint away. She looked pretty smart when winning on debut and we expect her to now go on with it.

Best Bet

Race 1 – Silk #1 Rumour Says (7)

2yo Filly | T: Luke Fernie | J: Clint Johnston-Porter (57kg)

$1.70 with Bet365

Next Best at Belmont – Startrade

Daniel Morton and Chris Parnham combine in the feature with Otheroneson, but they look like they can team up for a winner earlier on the card with Startrade in race six. The five-year-old gelding is a bit of a winning machine, having won 10 of his 26 starts. The son of Trade Fair was all too good last time out at Belmont over 1200m on June 4, coming from well back to win by half a length. Parnham could win on a broomstick at the moment, so when he partners horses with a will to win, you almost have to double your bet. From barrier two, he can be a little closer and win again.

Next Best

Race 6 – Silk #9 Startrade (2)

5yo Gelding | T: Daniel Morton | J: Chris Parnham (54.5kg)

$2.10 with Neds

Best Value at Belmont – Material Witness

Clint Johnston-Porter can bookend the program at Belmont on Saturday when he hops aboard Material Witness in the ninth. The five-year-old gelding rarely runs a bad race, finishing in the placings 11 times from his 19 starts. The son of Star Witness hasn’t been far away at all of late, running fourth in four consecutive starts, before just falling short at this track on May 28 when he motored home from last. The Adam Durrant-trained galloper is going to get back once again from barrier 11, but a repeat of last start will have him close to winning.

Best Value

Race 9 – Silk #5 Material Witness (11)

5yo Mare | T: Adam Durrant | J: Clint Johnston-Porter (58.5kg)

$9.50 with Unibet
