Libertini has won a barrier trial at Randwick ahead of her return for the Princess Series.

Anthony Cummings has taken the wraps off Baller and Libertini with both winning barrier trials at Randwick as they step up another gear heading to spring.

Cummings plans to start both on August 24 when black-type racing gets into full swing at Randwick with the meeting featuring the Group One Winx Stakes.

Libertini is scheduled to run in the Silver Shadow Stakes, the first leg of the four-race Princess Series for fillies which culminates in the Group One Flight Stakes.

With Tommy Berry aboard in Monday’s 1000m-heat on the course proper, Libertini ran out a three-quarter length winner over Bleu Roche.

Cummings has no doubts the Gerry Harvey-owned filly will be a Group One winner by the end of her three-year-old year.

Libertini ran second to Bivouac on debut in the Kindergarten Stakes before scoring a comprehensive win over 1200m on April 25 at Randwick.

She then won the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Scone in May to underline her class.

The filly is by champion sire I Am Invincible out of Group One winner Aloha.

She had a short break after Scone before returning to finish second to Saturday’s Rosebud winner Dawn Passage in a barrier trial last month.

Baller will resume in the Show County Quality (1200m) if he can get a start with his rating lower than his potential opponents.

He got his head in the frame first in his trial to beat Doncaster Mile runner-up Dreamforce.

Triple Group One winner Happy Clapper finished sixth in the same trial albeit less than two lengths from the winner.

The Cummings-trained Mizzy ran second in the third of the heats on the course proper, beaten by star mare Sunlight who is headed to the $14 million Everest.

Luke Currie travelled from Melbourne to Sydney to put Sunlight through her paces in the first of two scheduled trials before the Concorde Stakes on September 7.

Her Tony McEvoy-trained stablemate Pretty Brazen also won a trial and will head to the Silver Shadow.
