Ballarat races betting preview – March 09, 2021
An eight race card at Ballarat is set down for decision on Tuesday Afternoon where the track has come up a Good 4 for racing. With the rail in the true position throughout and with clear skies forecast we are set fair for a highly competitive midweek card. The first race will face the starter at 1:30pm AEDT.
Best Bet: Harlem Blues
With the winkers going on for the first time, we expect Harlem Blues to overturn a narrow defeat at Sandown on February 24, into a win at Ballarat on Tuesday. Having been held up at a crucial point in the home straight at Sandown, the Snowden trained gelding was unlucky to not break through for a deserved win. From barrier eight, expect Damian Lane to settle Harlem Blues towards the second half of the field in the moving line, and with a bit more luck than what Harlem Blues got at Sandown he should be too strong late for this field.
Race 6 – Harlem Blues (#6)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1363090_06]
Next Best: Kasami
The Henry Dwyer trained Kasami will be looking to go one better at Ballarat on the back of two second placed finishes to begin her career. The Shooting To Win filly debuted in May last year when finishing three quarters of a length behind Miss Kansas and was quickly sent to the paddock. Kasami’s return at Warrnambool on February 18 showed a win is around the corner when finishing a neck off the eventual winner. From barrier four, under Lucinda Doodt, expect her to settle in a prominent position and be too classy for them over the concluding stages.
Race 3 – Kasami (#8)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1363090_03]
Best Value: Luz Long
The Danny O’Brien trained Luz Long is another runner coming to Ballarat on the back of a close up runner up performance. With both of his starts being at Yarra Valley the first go at Ballarat looks ideal third up. From barrier one, and being a natural front runner, we expect Daniel Moor to settle Luz Long in front of the field and dictate terms to his liking. With a quiet time of it expected up in front, if he runs to his last start second at Yarra Valley he will be in front for a long way over the 1500m.
Race 4 – Luz Long (#5)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1363090_04]
