When Tuesday, August 24, 2021
First Race 1pm AEST

An eight-part card is scheduled for the Ballarat synthetic on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian racing analyst presents his best bets and top quaddie numbers for the meeting. With clear skies forecast, we are set for a great day of racing commencing at 1pm AEST.

Ballarat Best Bet: Strike Eagle

The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Strike Eagle returns to midweek company having finished midfield at Flemington on August 7 and looks perfectly placed to bring up a maiden win. The stable has seven wins from 11 starters on the Ballarat synthetic since August 1, missing the placings on just one occasion. Strike Eagle was simply too keen in the running at Flemington, so if he cans settle a bit better on Tuesday, he should take some catching. Luke Currie hops on board for the first time, and from barrier two the pair should have no trouble in finding the lead and dictating terms. Strike Eagle should be too classy for this lot.

Best BetRace 3 – Strike Eagle (#11) $2.35 with Ladbrokes

Next Best at Ballarat: Full Knots Ahead

Prolific Tasmanian trainer Sigrid Carr sends Full Knots Ahead to Ballarat for her first run on the mainland. With consecutive wins to her name heading into this BM58, the six-year-old mare looks well placed to make it three in a row. Two starts back at Devonport on August 1, she was a dominant 2.5 length victor on the synthetic when settling outside the leader and proving too strong late after giving a nice kick in the home straight. From barrier four under Jason Maskiell, expect to see the daughter of Needs Further settle in the first four. She has shown she can offer a kick towards the end of 2100m, which should prove the difference in the second leg of the quaddie.

Next BestRace 6 – Full Knots Ahead (#5) $3.70 with Sportsbet

Ballarat Value Bet: Ize Fairdinkum

Mitch Freedman sends Ize Fairdinkum back to a track he won at on June 29 three runs back. Despite struggling since that win, we anticipate the five-year-old son of Fruehling will appreciate the low draw in barrier three as the blinkers go on for the first time, and with Dean Yendall sticking on board, it is clear they mean business. An economical run in transit is expected, so he will just need even luck in the home straight to get the job done at nice odds in the third leg of the quaddie.

Best ValueRace 7 – Ize Fairdinkum (#6) $8 with Sportsbet
