Ballarat Best Bet – Mr Brightside

Our best bet on the Ballarat card comes up in the Listed Seymour Cup when the ever-improving Mr Brightside attempts to claim a stakes victory for the first time. The Ben & JD Hayes-trained four-year-old has strung together five wins in a row, including a soft win at Flemington on September 22 over Alcyone. The field he meets here is no harder than what he has been racing in, especially considering that Harbour Views is expected to go around in the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday. From barrier one with Craig Williams on board, it looks to be that only bad luck gets him beaten.

Next Best at Ballarat – Faretti

In the opening leg of the quaddie, we expect the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Faretti to bounce back from a poor showing at Caulfield on September 18. He steps back from a metropolitan race to a country BM78, and with Craig Williams retaining the ride from barrier two, it looks to be a perfect recipe for success. The five-year-old son of I Am Invincible looks to get an uncontested lead, and as the Ballarat track has tended to suit on-pace runners in recent times, Faretti will be the one to run down.

Next BestRace 6 – Faretti (#3) $3.80 with Sportsbet

Ballarat Value Bet – Parisian Dancer

We were with Parisian Dancer at Cranbourne on September 2, and despite looming into the race nicely, she was simply no match for a dominant Pepper’s Ghost. Declan Bates hops back on board and considering the pair has two wins from four starts and from barrier three is sure to get an economical run in transit. The mare’s win two starts back at Warrnambool was on the back of a good steer, where Bates managed to weave a passage through and when asked for an effort with 250m to go it was all over bar the shouting. If she can replicate a similar performance here, we expect Parisian Dancer to salute at a nice price.
