Best Bet: Continuance

The Lindsey Smith-trained Continuance was a dominant winner on a Soft 7 at Warrnambool on May 5, and we expect the Delago Deluxe filly to be hard to beat at Ballarat in similar conditions. She has only missed the top three on one occasion from six runs at 1000m, and we expect her to make it back-to-back wins to begin her campaign. The former WA filly will look to take a sit off the speed, which should be genuine tempo over the 1000m, and from barrier five Damien Oliver should have no issue in finding cover behind the leaders. When asked for an effort, Continuance should be storming past her opponents.

Best BetRace 4 – Continuance (#1) $3.70 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Spring Break

Mick Price saddles up Spring Break, who is coming off a smart win at Geelong where he settled three wide with no cover but still proved to be strong through the line. The Tavistock gelding steps up to the 1600m following his win at 1500m, and having only one start at the mile for one win, it suggests he will be hard to beat in the final leg of the quaddie. Dean Yendall has been on board for both of his wins and retains the ride. Having drawn out wide in barrier 14, we expect the pair to look for cover in midfield, and if successful, they should be savaging the line late.

Next BestRace 8 – Spring Break (#2) $4.50 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Flickitova

Now with the Maher & Eustace stable, former Kiwi runner Flickitova has not had much luck since his victory at Pakenham three runs back, but we expect him to atone with a win on Wednesday. He steps out of a strong BM70 affair at Caulfield which has seen the runner-up come out and win its next start. Jye McNeil retains the ride, and from barrier 10 we expect the pair to be in the second half of the field upon settling. The son of Raise The Flag has shown a sharp turn of foot when asked for an effort, and if he brings that to Ballarat on Wednesday, he should prove hard to beat.

Best ValueRace 6 – Flickitova (#3) $6.50 with Sportsbet
