A nine race card on Sunday afternoon for Gold Nugget Day at the Ballarat races feels like the ideal way to round out a Group 1 weekend of racing after the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes has been run and won at Caulfield on Saturday. With Shandy going around at Caulfield on Saturday the Gold Nugget is down to just for four gallopers, with Coming Around now favourite for the feature race on the card.

The Lloyd Kennewell 3YO Colt goes around for his third career start on Sunday and will go around as favourite yet again. In both starts prior where he has two runner up efforts to his name he has gone around as a drifting favourite, so if the support is there, so should the confidence in your investment. He has been beaten by a couple of handy types in his two starts and will appreciate the extra 200 metres when he steps out at 1400 metres for the first time after finishing off nicely when well beaten last start.

Got back to a firmer track for the first time since April last start at Geelong and deserves another chance here. Gets to 1400 metres where he has struggled in the past, but looks to get the run of the race form barrier one and will prove hard to hold out. He’s been racing pretty consistently without setting the country circuit on fire, and he looks a nice bet here.
