HorseBetting’s Victorian racing analyst has run the rule over the Ballarat synthetic meeting being held on Monday afternoon. HorseBetting.com.au brings you the best bets, top odds and free quaddie numbers for the meeting set to get underway at 1pm AEST.
Best Bet: #2 Full Probe
We do not have to wait too long for our best bet on the Ballarat card, when Full Probe for Robert Hickmott steps out in the opening event. At his second-up run at Sale, Full Probe showed plenty of pace over the 1200m when leading for all but the concluding stages and faded to finish under a half-length off the eventual winner. From barrier three, Liam Riordan should have no issue getting the Deep Field gelding to the front of the field in this maiden and considering he stays at the 1200m he should be too good for this field with race fitness on his side.
Race 1 – Full Probe (#2)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1371266_01]
Next Best: #3 Prince Of Helena
The Craig Weeding-trained Prince Of Helena send Prince Of Helena to Ballarat after being scratched at the Sandown and Flemington metro meetings last week. The Sidestep gelding is yet to finish outside of the the top four in six runs this campaign. He has been beaten by a nose on each fo his last two runs and you would think he just needs to bring his form to this race to be competitive. From barrier four, we expect Jake Duffy to take Prince Of Helena to the second half of the field and when asked for an effort, he should be putting this field away in the opening leg of the quaddie.
Race 5 – Prince Of Helena (#3)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1371266_05]
Best Value: #12 Lobster Noodles
Leon and Troy Corstens will be hoping that the synthetic surface is the tonic to help get their four-year-old mare Lobster Noodles back into the winner’s circle. During the spring, she chased home the smart Tralee Rose and has shown plenty of cheek when leading fields up in her career. She found the 1200m at Geelong a touch too sharp and will appreciate the step up to 1400m second-up from a spell. Look for Dean Holland to use the wide barrier to his advantage and get her down to the rail and at the big price she could prove hard to run down in the final leg of the quaddie.
Race 8 – Lobster Noodles (#12)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1371266_08]
