The Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic will headline the nine-race program at Ascot this Saturday afternoon. With perfect weather forecast for the remainder of the week, the track is expected to stay in the Good range throughout the meeting. The rail will be pushed out to the +5m position for the entire circuit, with the opening race scheduled to jump at 11:54am AWST.

Sheila Gwynne Classic Tip: Laced Up Heels

We were with Laced Up Heels last weekend when the Luke Fernie-trained mare was narrowly beaten by Magnificent Andy over 1200m at this track. This daughter of Toronado settled a lot closer to the speed second-up and appeared to lack her usual dash at the end of the race, which saw her get nabbed in the final strides. Stepping up to 1400m and with a lot of speed expected in this race, Chris Parnham should settle this girl towards the back of the field. If Laced Up Heels can find a back to follow around the home turn she will let down with a strong finish.

Best Bet at Ascot: Malkar Pindari

Malkar Pindari returned with an ultra-impressive victory first-up at this track and trip as she let down with a blistering turn of foot to sprint straight past her rivals in the final 300m and win by half a length. Chris Parnham gave the Simon Miller-trained mare a peach of a ride fresh, and with him retaining the ride second-up, it is expected that he will ride her the same here. There will be a lot of speed up front, and if Malkar Pindari can find the outside of runners in the home straight, she should prove too good once again.

Next Best at Ascot: Fly With Caution

Steven Parnham and Robert Witten will combine with Fly With Caution as the three-year-old gelding seeks to record a hat-trick of wins this time in, after claiming a dominant win over 1400m at this track on April 13. This son of Galah will step out to 1600m for the first time in his career; however, after such a strong performance last start, it is expected that he will have no problems running out a strong mile. From barrier six, Parnham will settle in the first four and if he shows the same turn of foot late, Fly With Caution will play a prominent role in the finish.

Next Best Again at Ascot: Boab Boy

Boab Boy has been in great form this preparation for the Brett Pope stable, recording three wins and four second-place finishes from nine starts. Last start, this son of Sessions led the field up the home straight before being run over by the smart Fly With Caution in the final 100m and had to settle for second. With only one other speed influence in the race, Lucy Fiore will be able to push forward with Boab Boy from barrier five and settle outside the leader before upping the ante on the home turn to kick clear and give his rivals something to chase.
