Ascot will play host to nine races with two featured races being held: the Ascot 1000 Guineas and the Lex Piper Stakes. The track is a Good 4, the rail is out +8m for the entire course, and the first race is set to jump at 12:12pm local time.

We were surprised to see Fashion Queen (#6) open at a very backable each-way quote for Saturday’s feature after two dominant wins. The Grant & Alana Williams-trained filly dons the famous cerise and white and has kicked off her career brilliantly with a second and two wins from three starts. In both of her career wins she has been odds-on and done the job in comfortable style. She is bred to get the 1800m and is drawn ideally in barrier five with Shaun McGruddy. She is one of the better bets of the day.

Lex Piper Stakes betting tips
Another for the Grant & Alana Williams stable is the promising Western Empire (#3). The son of Iffraaj has won just the one race but placed in a further four, proving to be a consistent galloper. He finished third last time out behind Solaia, which reads well for this. Up to the mile and drawn well under Chris Parnham, he should be winning this.

Best Bet of the Day
Lindsay Smith’s four-year-old mare Queen Takes King (#3) was beaten by the smallest of margins last time out at Bunbury over the 2038m after getting all of the favours in the run. She drops 2.5kg into this, which is arguably an easier race than the Class 3 she contested a fortnight ago. Chris Parnham will look for a forward spot on the mare from barrier 10 in a race that lacks speed. Third up and back in trip, Queen Takes King should make it win number four.
