Arc de l’Arc Triomphe runner-up Flintshire off to America

French star Flintshire has left Andre Fabre to be trained in America by Chad Brown.

Owned by Khalid Abdullah, Flintshire has been runner-up in the past two editions of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

At his most recent start, the six-year-old was second in the Hong Kong Vase won by Highland Reel who finished third behind Winx in the Cox Plate.

Abdullah’s racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said the team felt conditions in America would play to Flintshire’s strengths.

“He’s gone to Chad Brown in America where the fast ground and faster pace of the races should suit him,” Grimthorpe said.

“There should be some good options out there and we’ll work back from the Breeders’ Cup.

“There are no firm plans to begin with, but something like the United Nations Stakes at Monmouth in July might be a starting point.

“He’s in fantastic form and even though he’s six there are no signs of him slowing down.”
