Apprentice jocks Jennings, Panya suspended
Apprentice jockey Koby Jennings’ win aboard Super Maxi has been soured after he was suspended for causing severe interference during the race.
Jennings was slapped with a seven-meeting suspension and $1000 fine for causing the interference in the Ranvet’s Salkavite Handicap for apprentice jockeys.
Stewards found Super Maxi crossed after the start without giving sufficient clearance, resulting in a chain reaction which hampered five other horses.
“The nature of interference is severe,” steward Ray Livingstone said.
“We were lucky to have all 11 horses return after the race.”
Jennings will be on the sidelines from October 9 until the October 21 night meeting at Canterbury.
Fellow apprentice Deanne Panya was outed from October 13 to 22 for causing interference aboard Lady Corelli in the Schweppes Handicap.
