Antino ($2.60) has continued his dominance this season after his eighth career win coming in the Wayne Wilson Stakes on Saturday afternoon.

The son of Redwood has just continued to thrive this campaign putting together his fourth straight victory and with every step up in grade, the Tony Gollan-trained gelding has responded in kind for punters.

This time jockey James Orman elected to take a sit in behind the speed and it paid dividends as he relished sprinting off a relatively strong tempo throughout the 1600m contest.

Any question marks of him staying out the mile were put to bed swiftly as Antino sprinted to the lead with 250m to go and ran his rivals into the ground.

Munhamek ($3.60) was able to get the head down finding second position and has continued his rise in Australia since arriving from Hong Kong, while Skyman ($9.50) finished off nicely for each-way backers.

2023 Listed Wayne Wilson Replay – Antino

It’s all about the winner; however, as Antino looks like he’s yet to reach his ceiling, which trainer Tony Gollan referred to in his post-race assessment.

“I don’t know where he ends up, this horse,” said Gollan.

“I think the sky is the limit for him.

“You saw how he sustained a long run the other day with 61.5 (kgs) and to sit three-pairs back today and sprint like it was a 1200 metre race.

“He’s got a massive future, he’s a beautiful looking animal and he’s a pleasure to train. I certainly appreciate having a horse like this in my yard.

“I said to the connections when we didn’t get into the Stradbroke that this was a good option for him to see where we’re at and where we head in the spring.

“He answered a few questions today and we can sit down and map out a bit of a path for him in Melbourne or Sydney.

“He’s a very exciting horse and show him off down there.”

Jockey James Orman couldn’t have been happier with the win and was elated post-race, affirming Antino could end up in some very good races moving forward.

“It is good to be a part of it,” said Orman.

“He’s a good horse and that was his best win.

“He’s a horse what wants to settle but we were going to roll and sit outside Bigboyroy today. He just wants to settle so I let him do what he wants and we didn’t have to make up much ground as he towed into the race.

“He put them away very quickly.

“The sky is the limit for him, I think.”
