Amasenus wins 2022 Sheila Gwynne Classic at Ascot

Amasenus has claimed her second stakes win when taking out the Sheila Gwynne Classic (1400m) at Ascot.

Trained at Ascot by Simon Miller, the five-year-old Time For War mare jumped well from barrier two at $4.20 with online bookmakers.

After sitting fourth in the clear on the outside of the seven horse field on settling, jockey Brad Parnham made his move down the middle of the straight, claiming the lead with 150m to go and running away for a 1.28-length win to Jadavi ($21) and Watch Me Dance ($14) a close up third.

Miller’s very genuine mare now boasts a record of 20 starts for 10 wins and four placings, taking her earnings to over $450,000.

After breaking a six-start winning streak when finishing third in the Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m) last July at Belmont, Amasenus came back two weeks later to claim her first Stakes win in Listed HG Bolton Sprint (1200m).

A $14,000 purchase by Aquanita Racing from of the draft of Taghadoe Stud at the 2017 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale, the consistent mare has proven herself to be a very good buy
