Best Bet – #1 Smuggler’s Bay
Three-year-old gelding Smuggler’s Bay was an impressive debut winner at Wagga on May 6, leading all of the way to win by 2.5 lengths. Trained by Ron Weston & John Nisbet, this son of Squamosa now lines up in a winnable 1000m Class 1 under Kayla Nisbet. Drawn out in barrier nine, we expect the gelding to be sent forward and lead which should make him hard to catch again.

Next Best – #8 Cross Creek
Matthew Dale and Blaike McDougall combine with a three-start maiden in the fourth, Cross Creek. The three-year-old Choisir filly hasn’t been beaten too far in all three of her runs, despite failing to place. Drawn out in barrier 13, she is going to get back a fair way off the speed, but there appears to be plenty of speed in the race which should set it up for a back-marker to run on. She can improve second-up.

Best Value – #5 Electric Storm
Electric Storm was an upset winner last start over the 1400m at this course, but boy did he win in style. Sent around as a $51 chance, the son of The Factor settled with only a few horses behind him before looping the field to win by 3.5 lengths. He drops 1.5kg off that win, retains Simon Miller aboard and should get a nice run from barrier five. The $51 won’t be available this time, but we are happy to be with him again.
