Albert non-starter in Melbourne Cup
Japanese stayer Albert will not travel to Australia for the Melbourne Cup.
Trainer Noriyuki Horo told Racing Victoria on Thursday night Albert, a $26 chance in the Cup, would stay at home.
A winner over 3600 metres, Albert finished seventh, beaten three lengths in a 2200m-race on Sunday.
Earlier this year he ran fifth, one place behind Admire Deus, in the Tenno Sho Spring over the Melbourne Cup distance of 3200m.
Admire Deus has arrived in Australia and will run in the Cup for Australian Bloodstock and leading trainer Darren Weir.
