Full form & tips for Ipswich, Friday December 22

THE sole meeting in the sunshine state this Friday takes place in Ipswich.

There’s plenty of great racing around to end the working week and we have gone through each and every one of the eight races on the card and provided a tip.

Race 1 – Handicap (1100m)

In a race that does not have a lot of form to go off we have to respect the closest horse to breaking through, which is Just Favulous. The two-year-old was just half a length of shaking the maiden tag at Dalby two weeks ago, and a run up to that standard should see it do the business at the third time of asking.

Race 1 tip: Just Favulous to win at Crownbet

Race 2 – Class 4 Handicap (800m)

Off the short-course trip Desirable Miss looks best suited to win here. The mare recorded a short-head win over 900m on the Gold Coast on December 9 and the form looks sound heading into this one.

Race 2 tip: Desirable Miss to win ($4.20 at Ladbrokes)

Race 3 – Class 1 Handicap (1100m)

Bubba Rocker has either won or finished second in three-straight races and looks a great prospect to replicate that once again. Last time out at Ipswich as a $31 outsider the horse only narrowly missed out, and we think the form will prove sound for this race.

Race 3 tip: Bubba Rocker to win ($6.60 at Neds)

Race 4 – Class 1 Handicap (1100m)

Justify won well on debut as a $1.40 favourite and looks to be a progressive type. It is yet to lose a trial and looked great in a recent jump out at Doomben on December 12, so we are expecting the horse to jump straight up in class in a professional manner.

Justify is our best bet of the day at Ipswich

Race 4 tip: Justify to win ($2.10 at William Hill)

Race 5 – Maiden Handicap (1200m)

Trommelschlagen resumes after its narrow defeat at the Sunshine Coast in October. The horse trialled brilliantly at Doomben since then and looks ready to advance maiden grade. The three-year-old jumps from barrier three and should be right in the mix here.

Trommelschlagen is our next best bet of the day at Ipswich

Race 5 tip: Trommelschlagen to win ($1.60 at Neds)

Race 6 – Maiden (1350m)

It is now-or-never for Star Rock. After placing in three of its four race starts the horse has shown enough to insert itself into the money, the next step is to finally shake that unwanted maiden tag. Friday looms as the day.

Race 6 tip: Star Rock to win ($2.90 at CrownBet)

Race 7 – Class 2 (1350m)

Runway Ready is second-up on Friday, where it has won from one attempt in the past. On resumption the horse came from midfield to finish second, but never loomed as a winning threat. The fitness will be key here and we are anticipating a stronger looking animal this time around.

Race 7 tip: Runway Ready to win ($4.20 at CrownBet)

Race 8 – Benchmark 65 (1700m)

Kermandie Star looks to be the horse to beat in the final event on the card. Three straight placings is good form, and the horse has not been too far off the eventual winner on any of those occasions. The five-year-old drops in weight, which will prove the difference here.

Race 8 tip: Kermandie Star to win ($7.50 at Sportsbet)
