Col ‘N’ Lil fights hard to claim the Lord Mayor’s Cup
EXPRIENCED mare Col ‘n’ Lil has registered its eighth win from 35 starts after finishing off powerfully in the face of adversity to win the Lord Mayor’s Cup.
The five-year-old took the lead early in the straight and looked running out of steam but champion Queensland jockey Jeff Lloyd got a secondary effort from his horse to win and return $7.30 at Sportsbet.com.au.

Godolphin gelding Duca Valentinois ($1.80 at Crownbet.com.au) looked the likely winner as the race entered the latter stages but James Doyle could not get the five-year-old past the eventual winner.
Ell Lou closed late but never troubled the leading pair to claim third and return $1.60 at WilliamHill.com.au.
Yeeewwwww @bencurrieracing @ToowoombaTips ??Just so good to watch. Absolute must follow! #bneraces #EagleFarm #Colnlil

The big disappointment of the race was the performance of star six-year-old Religify. Trainer Chris Waller warned punters prior to the race to “Just bet cautiously on Religify”, and that apprehension was vindicated.
Religify! ? haha

The gelding jumped as the $3.10 favourite at Crownbet.com.au, but drifted dramatically in the market late, with punter’s concerns about its poor wet track form justified as the Chris Waller runner wilted badly at the 400m mark.
Don’t reckon we will ever see Religify on a Heavy track again
