Best Bet at Caulfield Heath: Divine Thoughts
Divine Thoughts simply does not know how to run a poor race, winning two of her last three races and not finishing worse than fifth in any of her seven starts this time in. The So You Think mare is a natural front-runner and looks set to gain a relatively uncontested lead throughout this 1550m event. She won her last start over 1519m at Moonee Valley by 4.3 lengths when seemingly running her rivals off their legs, and if Luke Nolen adapts similar tactics here, Divine Thoughts will not be for catching.
Best Bet
Race 6 – #4 Divine Thoughts (9)
4yo Mare | T: Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman | J: Luke Nolen (58.5kg)
Next Best at Caulfield Heath: Nova Lights
Nova Lights put in a massive run in defeat at The Valley on November 1, having been forced to travel wide with no cover at the rear of the field. The Lean Mean Machine mare had the audacity to still hit the line strongly over 1200m and arguably should have won with a better run in transit. Senior jockey Ben Melham hops on board, and with a stack of early speed, the pair look set to have a perfect sit on the leaders throughout. Barring any bad luck, Nova Lights should prove too hard to hold out this time around.
Next Best
Race 8 – #12 Nova Lights (7)
4yo Mare | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Ben Melham (57kg)
Best Value at Caulfield Heath: Royal Insignia
Royal Insignia broke his maiden in impressive fashion when sprinting sharply to score at Kyneton on November 6. The three-year-old colt was held up for a run until the final 150m, but once he found clear air, the son of Written Tycoon launched late to score in soft fashion. He draws barrier 10, which looks set to suit his racing style perfectly as he looks to get back upon settling and run on. Jamie Mott sticks, and if the pair can find a back to follow, Royal Insignia presents great each-way value with Picklebet.
Best Value
Race 4 – #4 Royal Insignia (10)
3yo Colt | T: Grahame Begg | J: Jamie Mott (59kg)
