First Race | 3:06pm ACST |

BEST BET: Patriotic King
Patriotic King currently holds the 1100m track record (1.01.84), but there are times where his form can fluctuate. The son of Starspangledancer posted back-to-back wins over 1100m in May against 0-64 class and July against 0-66 opposition. A seventh over 1200m on August 5 and a last start fifth over 1100m – both at 0-70 level – followed. Starting well in a small field is the key, and should he overcome that hurdle, Patriotic King will take some stopping.
Best Bet
Race 4 – #1 Patriotic King (2)
6yo Gelding | T: Gary Clarke | J: Jarrod Todd (60.5kg)
NEXT BEST: Scudetto
Scudetto made an impressive Top End debut in June for SA trainer Heather Lehmann prior to the Darwin Cup Carnival when second over 1100m at BM54 level. He then failed to finish in the top five in his next three starts. After a two-month spell, the four-year-old gelding returned on September 21 to post a first-up win for his new trainer. Jumping from the inside gate, Scudetto settled just off the pace over 1000m in 0-58 grade before finishing off full of vigour. He lumps an extra 1.5kg on Saturday, but looks the goods in this.
Next Best
Race 3 – #3 Scudetto (1)
4yo Gelding | T: Tom Logan | J: Sonja Logan (57.5kg)
BEST VALUE: Bon’s Pride
In a quality six-horse field, Bon’s Pride is more than a decent hope. An early $8.50 quote with online bookmakers, the six-year-old gelding returned from a six-week spell on September 21 and settled fourth before winding up late to seal second place over 1200m in BM76 class. During the Darwin Carnival, the son of Bon Aurum posted two seconds in July over 1100m in 0-70 grade before lumping 62kg to win the $50,000 Magic Millions Top End Classic (1300m) on Cup Day with a powerful finish. A repeat performance will see him feature in the finish.
Best Value
Race 2 – #4 Bon’s Pride (2)
4yo Gelding | T: Jason Manning | J: Vanessa Arnott (57.5kg)
