Recent Tibbie Stakes results
- Jarrod Austin and Nash Rawiller combined with Terra Mater ($3.50) to take out the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes at Newcastle, with the win delivering Austin his first Group 3 winner of his training career. Rawiller has been aboard the Wandjina mare for eight of her 17 starts, and he recorded his sixth victory in the Tibbie, following an absolute peach of a ride from barrier two. After jumping the best of the field, Rawiller allowed his mount to settle behind Overriding ($7), who took the lead within the first 300m before working off the rail to cruise up to the leader on the home turn. Behind the leader and winner, Roots ($5), Hell Hath No Fury ($19), and Hellavadancer ($8) chased hard but never looked as though they would catch Terra Mater, as she kicked clear with 200m to go and was able to record a strong win. After trailing the winner and only getting into clear air late in the piece, Roots flew home for second, and Overriding was able to hold on for third place.
- Banana Queen ($13.00) has produced a career-best performance to secure victory in the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes at Newcastle. The Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou-trained mare was fit and firing fourth-up after a lacklustre preparation, but repaid the faith, barreling down the centre of the course and bolting away with the majority of the $250,000 prize packet. Kerrin McEvoy navigated to a perfect spot throughout the contest, securing the one-one position, before pushing the button on the daughter of So You Think. She responded in kind and was far too good, kicking clear to score by 1.5 lengths, leaving Sanstoc ($7.00) and Mirra View ($11.00) chasing in vain.
- Kerry Parker and Tim Clark combined with Hope In Your Heart ($10) to reel in the runaway leader Riduna ($11) and claim the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes at Newcastle. After settling towards the rear of the field, Clark got his mare out into clear air around the home turn and she exploded with a massive finish to go straight past the leader. The race favourite Katalin ($2.20) tried to go with the winner but didn’t peaked on her run at the 100m mark and finished in third.
- The Les Bridge-trained Madam Legend ($9.50) has led all the way in the Tibbie Stakes at Newcastle, holding off the fast-finishing Mirra Vision ($6.50) to claim her maiden Group 3 victory. Jeff Penza gave this daughter of I Am Invincible a good front-running ride before pushing the button at the 300m mark, and as she responded to his urgings the mare created enough of a margin to hold off Mirra Vision and Great News ($2.45), who finished in the placings.
- After jumping as the race favourite, All Saints’ Eve has been given a 10 out of 10 ride from James McDonald to claim the Tibbie Stakes at Newcastle. The four-year-old mare settled midfield and needed some luck as the field rounded the home bend, and somehow McDonald found room. Once he pushed the button, the eventual winner exploded through the gap and let down with a devastating turn of foot, holding off the fast-finishing swoopers Yamazaki ($7) and Wandabaa ($7) on the outside.
- Sweet Deal ($5) from the John Thompson yard claimed her maiden Group 3 victory in the Tibbie Stakes at Newcastle on Friday. Nash Rawiller settled his five-year-old mare behind the speed and let her peel off the leaders back at the top of the home straight. Once the daughter of Casino Prince hit the front, she was too strong and fought off the challenges from Notation ($8.50) and Connemara ($7) – who filled the placings – and the race favourite Pohutukawa ($3).
