Brisbane’s Saturday meeting moved to Sunshine Coast

The Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) announced to its members on Monday afternoon that this Saturday’s feature metropolitan meeting will be moved to the Sunshine Coast as Eagle Farm continues its 13-week renovation.
With March 12 pencilled in as Eagle Farm’s return date, it was expected that Doomben would be hosting this weekend’s meeting, but the club has opted to give that track a Saturday off.
Doomben is scheduled to host metropolitan racing on Wednesday, February 16, as well as the following two Saturdays and Wednesday, March 2, which means the track will have hosted six meetings in just five weeks.
A post sent out to Brisbane Racing Club members said, “All BRC Members and Guest Passes will be honoured by the Sunshine Coast Turf Club for entry and access to Members Only areas.”
The BRC is set to offer a complementary shuttle bus between Eagle Farm Racecourse to Corbould Park for members and their guests.
It has been a disruptive week for the BRC, as Tuesday morning’s scheduled Doomben trials have been postponed to Thursday, February 17, due to a large amount of rain since Monday afternoon.
Racing Queensland confirms that following a deluge of rainfall in Brisbane earlier this afternoon, the trials which were programmed for Doomben tomorrow, Tuesday, February 15, have been postponed and rescheduled to Thursday, February 17. #bneraces

A number of high-quality thoroughbreds are listed to trial on Thursday, including Group 1 winners Jonker and Krone as well as consistent gallopers Weona Smartone, Contemptuous and Snitch.
Saturday’s most anticipated race at the Sunshine Coast will be a 3YO Handicap over 1000m, where Blackjack Boom will take on the unbeaten Buying Time from the in-form Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted stable, while local trainer Stuart Kendrick saddles up Misted Larrabee, Menazzi and Funny Money in the race.
