A nine-race card is scheduled for Flemington on Saturday afternoon and HorseBetting.com.au’s Victorian horse racing form analyst presents his best bets, free quaddie selections and top odds from Australia’s best online bookmakers. The track is rated a Soft 6, with the rail out 3m for the meeting getting underway at 11:55am AEST.
Flemington Best Bet: Lindhout
The Enver Jusufovic-trained Lindhout brought up a deserving victory over this track and distance in the Leilani Series Final on July 3 and looks well placed to bring up consecutive victories for the first time in her career. Having settled towards the rear of the field on that day, the four-year-old Time for War mare produced a stunning turn of foot when hitting the line nicely. The field she faces on Saturday is no harder than the field she put two lengths on last time out and with Carleen Hefel hopping back on board and claiming 3kg, she will go around with just 53.5kg on her back and should be too good for this lot.
Race 3 – Lindhout (#7)Next Best at Flemington: South Pacific
South Pacific is currently a $101 chance in this year’s Melbourne Cup, but another dominant win at Flemington on Saturday like his one on June 19, could see those odds tighten. Having box seated on that day over 2540m, the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained five-year-old son of Galileo looks hard to beat yet again. Despite drawing barrier 15, we expect Jamie Kah to look for a similar position upon settling on Saturday and as long as he doesn’t get trapped three wide without cover we know he can stay all day. He finished third in this race last year and on Saturday we expect him to be too good for the Flemington Cup 1849 field.
Race 8 – South Pacific (#3)Best Value at Flemington: Pinyin
The Jim Conlan-trained Pinyin comes to Flemington seven weeks between runs since his hard luck story when finishing second at Caulfield on May 29. Having been held up for a run the majority of the home straight, the five-year-old mare drove hard late, to be beaten by Plaquette by under a half-length. She comes to Flemington third up where she has a record of 4:1-3-0 when having her third run of a campaign and considering all four of her career wins have come on rain-affected ground we anticipate her being too strong for her rivals and one that presents great value in the second leg of the quaddie.
