Ballarat is scheduled to host an eight-part card on the club’s synthetic track on Friday afternoon. HorseBetting’s Victorian racing form analyst presents his best bets, odds comparison and free quaddie selections for the meeting scheduled to get underway at 1pm AEST.
Ballarat Best Bet: Trip
When acceptances came out for this meeting, it was a big surprise to see the David Jolly-trained Trip set to go around in the third leg of the quaddie. The four-year-old mare from South Australia is a speedy type and does her best racing when leading on her own terms. From barrier eight, Alana Kelly will look to take her mount to the front of the field, where she can dictate terms from the get-go. The mare has failed to fire in harder races in Adelaide so far this campaign, but her best form blows this field away.
Race 7 – Trip (#7)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372840_07]
Next Best at Ballarat: Sweet Home Alabama
The resuming Leon & Troy Corstens filly Sweet Home Alabama looks well placed to break her maiden at start six. The three-year-old daughter of Starspangledbanner will be having her first start on the synthetic surface, but her best form wins this comfortably. Regular jockey Lachlan King hops on board for this first-up run, and from barrier three we expect the filly to be close to the speed throughout. She should be too quick for this field over 1000m.
Race 1 – Sweet Home Alabama (#10)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372840_01]
Ballarat Value Bet: Balle D’or
The Simon Morrish-trained Balle D’or boasts a formidable record on synthetic (6:3-1-1) and will be looking bring up her third win over the track and distance. We expect Alana Kelly to have the I Am Invincible mare up on speed and dictating terms throughout, and the apprentice jockey’s 1.5kg claim will only help the cause. The six-year-old’s win here on September 3, 2020 was as dominant as they come on the plastic fantastic, as she kicked clear late to put three lengths on her closest rival. If she brings that form, she will take some catching in the second leg of the quaddie.
Race 6 – Balle D’or (#2)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372840_06]
