Moe Racing Club is scheduled to host a nine-part card on Thursday afternoon. The track is rated a Soft 7, and the rail in the true position throughout. HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing form analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the Gippsland meeting, which is set to get underway at 12:30pm AEST.
Moe Best Bet: Duke Of Neworleans
In the third leg of the quaddie, the resuming Duke Of Neworleans steps out in a bid to build on his impressive summer form. He debuted with an eight-length victory at Geelong on a Heavy 9 before going down narrowly at both starts in town. It is hard to not like his racing style, as he has shown strong early barrier speed throughout his career and looks to dictate terms throughout. From barrier 13, Ben Melham will have his eyes fixated on getting this three-year-old son of Hallowed Crown down to the rails, where he can dictate terms and then kick clear under a well-rated ride. The Duke has shown a liking for rain-affected going so far in his career, so the conditions won’t hurt him a bit. As long as he is screwed down for this first-up run, he should be too quick for his rivals over 1200m.

Moe Value Bet: Velicina
Matthew Brown sends his three-year-old filly Velicina to Moe in a bid to go one better than her last start runner-up effort at Bairnsdale on June 6, when she kicked clear by four lengths with 100m to go but got swooped on late. She sticks at the 1200m here and from barrier nine should head to the front of the field and dictate terms once again. Under a well-rated steer from Patrick Moloney, the Written Tycoon filly should be breaking her maiden at start three.
Race 2 – Velicina (#13)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372741_02]
Next Best Value at Moe: Cyclone Sally
The Nick Harnett-trained Cyclone Sally was a smart winner over the Bairnsdale 1600m on June 6 and will be looking to string together consecutive victories when she steps out at Moe. The four-year-old Puissance De Lune mare has an unbelievable wet track record (7:3-2-1), with all three of her career wins coming when the sting is out of the ground. There is no doubt she will need a little bit of luck early in the running from barrier 15, but if she is afforded that, Matthew Cartwright will have her fighting out the finish.
