Stony Creek betting preview – Monday, February 15
Stony Creek will help kick start another week of racing in Victoria with an eight-race card on Monday afternoon. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail in set in the true position, so we can expect a cracking day of racing in South Gippsland. The first at Stony Creek is set to jump at 1:30pm AEDT.
Best Bet: I Am Ready
Coming off a dominant maiden victory at Donald, I Am Ready looks set to handle the step up into BM58 grade. The Lloyd Kennewell-trained filly smashed her rivals by five lengths at Donald with an all-the-way victory under Zac Spain, who was onboard for the first time and retains the ride on Monday. With plenty of speed drawn to her inside and outside, expect to see the daughter of I Am Invincible settle just off the pace. If she can replicate the turn of foot she showed at Donald, then this looks a case of sit and steer for Spain in the last leg of the Stony Creek quaddie.
Race 8 – I Am Ready (#5)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1361439_08]
Next Best: Licciardi
The Leon & Troy Corstens-trained Licciardi steps back to a country Class 1 following a couple of strong showings in town without picking up a win. Two starts back at Caulfield she was beaten just over a length by the likes of Bella Tiara, Sensationalisation and Vespertine, who won her next race and then went around in the The Vanity last Saturday. That’s the form we want to be with. From barrier two under Lachie King, she will go forward and prove hard to run down in the third leg of the quaddie.
Race 7 – Licciardi (#5)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1361439_07]
Best Value: Reward The Bold
The Kelvin Southey-trained Reward The Bold has strung together three consecutive minor placings this campaign, including a runner-up performance at Werribee on January 29. Michael Poy is a superb rider of front-running horses and hops on for the first time. Poy should have no issue in getting the gelding to the front of the field from barrier five, and the step up to 1100m should not be a problem.
Race 2 – Reward The Bold (#4)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1361439_02]
