Warwick Farm racing preview – February 10, 2021
Seven metropolitan races will be run and won at Warwick Farm in New South Wales’ standalone thoroughbred meeting on Wednesday. The track is a Soft 5, the rail is out +3m for the entire course, and the first race is set to jump at 2:20pm local time.
Best Bet: French Bonnet
Kim Waugh has another smart one in the form of French Bonnet, who will be looking to win her third straight race. The three-year-old Puissance De Lune filly has won her last two by a combined margin of 5.5 lengths and will have every chance on Wednesday over 1400m. Drawn in barrier five under Brenton Avdulla, she shouldn’t be too far away in the run and will be hard to hold out.
Race 3 – French Bonnet (#7)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1361081_03]
Next Best: Military Prince
Team Hawkes saddle up Military Prince who is looking to get his first win out of the way at start two on Wednesday. The three-year-old son of I Am Invincible was well-backed on debut three weeks ago and after turning for home in last place, he rattled home into second over the 1250m at Canterbury. He drops only 50m in distance here and can settle a touch closer from gate five under Tommy Berry to give him every winning chance. He looks a nice type.
Race 2 – Military Prince (#2)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1361081_02]
Best Value: Castel Sant’angelo
The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott five-year-old Castel Sant’angelo looms as a smokey in the fourth race on the card. Drawn one from the outside in barrier 12, he will look to cruise over to the lead under Brenton Avdulla, control the race and break their hearts like he has before at this track and distance. The Pierro gelding is now second up after a lacklustre effort over the mile three weeks ago, but he has been back to the trials and shown promise over 1200m. Up to 2200m and down in weight should see him run a bold race at big odds.
Race 4 – Castel Sant’angelo (#2)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1361081_04]
