Sunshine Coast Horse Betting Preview – 17th January 2021
Nine races are set for the Sunshine Coast on Sunday afternoon on what will be an improving Soft 5 track. The rail will be out +8m for the entirety of the course.
Race 1 will jump at 12:15pm.
Bryan & Daniel Guy may have unleashed a smart one with Sabie Park who won superbly here on debut by 2L. In what can only be described as a peach of a ride by Michael Rodd who went early on the three-year-old, he picked them up and put them down very impressively to come from last and loop the field. Up to 1400m looks the ideal next step for the Kermadec gelding who reeks of class. He’ll get back from barrier 10, but he should be too good still.

This is a very open race as you’d expect from an Open Handicap over 1000m, but we are siding with who we believe is simply the best horse in the race. Locally trained Valario for Natalie McCall looks in this up to his ears after a bullish win at Eagle Farm a month ago. His record at the Sunshine Coast is nearing on perfect with four wins from seven starts here. He’s undefeated over the 1000m which makes him very hard to beat, especially given his racing style. From barrier 6 under arguably Queensland’s top rider in Brad Stewart, he’ll get a lovely run behind a hot tempo and should be simply too good.
