Wednesday racing tips for Sandown
An eight-race card on the Sandown Lakeside track seems a near-perfect way for Victorian racing to enter the Christmas break. With the track already a Good 3 and the rail out 4m, we’re set fair for a cracking meeting in the twilight. It’s the first meeting held on the Lakeside track since August 19, so it may pay to observe the first few races to see how the track plays early on. The first race will jump at 3:30pm AEDT.
Race 5 – Livingstone Falls (#6)After an impressive victory at The Valley a fortnight ago, we think the Andrew Noblet-trained Livingstone Falls has what it takes to get the job done in the opening leg of the quaddie. The mare had to endure a tough run three wide with no cover just off the speed, but she still had enough left in the tank to score by just under a length. With speed drawn to the outside, she maps to get a cart across the field and should find cover in the moving line. She can sustain a high sprint from a long way out, so she is every chance to win this with a bit of luck early.

Race 7 – Laundy (#8)The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained Laundy is coming off three consecutive runner-up performances, including a narrow defeat at The Valley when favourite three weeks ago. The four-year-old gelding is becoming a dangerous horse to back, as he has been well in the market in eight runs this campaign for only one win which came six starts back at Echuca. Nash Rawiller retains the ride and will look to get his mount up on speed from barrier 12 and dictate terms. Laundy is in peak race fitness, and the Lakeside track out Sandown is conducive to on-pace gallopers.

Race 6 – Larrikin (#8)Brian McGrath and Craig Williams will be looking to build on the first-up effort that Larrikin put in on the Hillside track three weeks back, when he was held up over the final furlong and only went down by 2.5 lengths. He looks to get a similar run in transit this time from barrier five, but we expect Willow to settle him one off the rails so he doesn’t have to rely on luck down the home straight. In his last preparation he won five on the trot, and more of that form will see him fighting out the finish in this BM70.
