Wenona Girl Quality 2021 betting preview
The Group 3 Wenona Girl Quality sees 10 mares do battle over 1200m at Randwick this Saturday. After trouncing her rivals a fortnight ago, Emanate is a deserving odds-on favourite ahead of Fiesta and Positive Peace. The latter looks the likely leader from barrier two, while Vulpine and Fanciful Dream are likely to push forward as well from out wide.
Emanate (#6) was simply dominant at Benchmark 94 level two weeks ago, winning by 3.8 lengths at Rosehill over 1100m when fresh off a month’s let-up. The Lonhro mare goes even better second up (3:2-1-0) and is two from two at the 1200m, so we expect her to improve again. Rachel King stays on board, and she gets in with only 53kg. Trained by James Cummings, the lightly raced four-year-old could make her presence felt this autumn.
Positive Peace (#1) just tired late in the Millie Fox a fortnight ago when trying to burn the candle at both ends, so the drop back to 1200m and the dry track should see her bounce back. She has won three of her four second-up runs and is a four-time winner on Good going, so the race conditions should be in her favour. Drawn in barrier two for Josh Parr, she will find the front again and look to make every post a winner.
Brad Widdup’s four-year-old Snitzel mare Vulpine (#10) is a good bet for the each-way punters after serving it up to Andermatt last start and only missing by 0.3 of a length. Barrier nine won’t be too much of an issue, as she will go forward to sit outside Positive Peace, and it is unlikely that they will over do it. The drier track will suit her, and she won at 1200m just three starts back. Down on the minimum, she should be in this for a fair way.
