The Straight Six over the Flemington 1200m is the featured event on the nine race card at Flemington on Saturday afternoon. A field of 16 will battle it out for $140,000 with 2020 winner Great Again back to defend his crown, but online bookmakers have listed Streetcar Stranger as a $4.40 chance for the event. Horsebetting.com.au brings you the best bets, top odds and betting strategy for The Straight Six due to jump at 4:10pm AEST.

We expect the outsider in the field Rox The Castle to go forward after settling, with Great Again not far away in the running. I’m Telling Ya, Pandemic and Intuition are expected to be at the rear of the field.

The Straight Six betting preview

Ocular was a smart winner at Warrnambool on May 6, and we expect the Shea Eden-trained son of Written Tycoon to be hard to beat. Having been desperately unlucky at her first up run at Cranbourne to begin his campaign, he responded in soft fashion to claim victory over the 1100m at Warrnambool. He gets back to Flemington where he has a runner-up effort to his name, but will need to go to another level to be winning this. We expect Daniel Moor to have him close to the speed throughout, and if he shows the sharp turn of foot as he has in both starts this campaign he should be storming over the top of his rivals.

Streetcar Stranger was benefitted by a top-class steer from Jamie Kah at Caulfield on May 5, and comes to Flemington searching for three wins on the bounce. Jamie Kah stays on-board for this, but with this being his first go down the Flemington straight he will need to go to another level to win this. Racing in career-best form, the four-year-old son of Stratum is another who will look to settle on the speed behind the leaders, and if he brings his form from Caulfield the $4.40 favourite will give this an almighty shake.

One to follow at a nice price is the Daniel Bowman-trained Capriccio who is a $31 chance in the market. The I Am Invincible filly was only 1.75 lengths off our top pick Ocular at Warrnambool, and goes down 2kg off that effort. She returns to Flemington where she beat a handy field over the 1100m at her only go down the straight on February 27. If she brings that form to the straight six, she will almost certainly be fighting out the finish at a good price.
