Sweet Embrace Stakes racing preview – February 27, 2021
The fillies get their chance in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes for their key lead up to next month’s Golden Slipper. The field of 15 sees Four Moves Ahead the favourite ahead of She’s All Class and Mallory, with Nice For What the only other runner in single figures. There does look plenty of speed of in the race with Sliders, Robodira, Emerald Bay and Northuldra all likely to be handy.
With a win and two other placings from three starts, top weight She’s All Class (#1) is exactly what her name suggests. She was dominant in the Wyong Magic Millions and then flew home into third in the Gold Coast edition behind Shaquero. Drawn out wide in barrier 14 under James McDonald, she will get right back and fly home down the centre of the track over the top of the hot tempo.
John Sargent’s Four Moves Ahead (#5) could solidify her spot at the top of the Golden Slipper market with a win on Saturday. She was a short favourite ahead of the Silver Slipper a fortnight ago but was scratched on race morning, but she looks hard to beat if she is sound. Drawn well in gate seven under Nash Rawiller, she should be able to settle off the leading quartet and get an economical run into the straight.
Jamaea (#7) put in an eye-catching run at Randwick three weeks ago in the Lonhro Plate, where she finished second with the best overall race sectionals and the quickest final 200m sectional of the day in only her second start. She won her maiden on debut at Kembla Grange over the 1200m, so the rise back in trip to the six furlongs should suit her. With speed on in the race, we should see Jamaea close off nicely under apprentice jockey Brock Ryan.
