The final race of the afternoon at Eagle Farm is the Listed Queensland Day Stakes over 1200m for three-year-olds. A field of 14 was assembled for the $200,000 event, but it now only has the 11 starters due to scratchings. Kisukano is the $4 betting favourite, just ahead of Georgie’s Pride ($4.20). The chances don’t end there according to the market, with Rocketing By and Mass Destruction both at $8. Georgie’s Pride is the likely leader from the wide barrier, while Tramonto, Kisukano and Fleet Dove should all be thereabouts in the run too. HorseBetting’s Queensland form analyst has previewed the race and offers you his top tips and $100 betting strategy.

Queensland Day Stakes tips

Georgie’s Pride is absolutely airborne having won three races in succession, all of which came at Eagle Farm. The Desleigh Forster-trained filly has won five of her past six races, with her only defeat coming at the hands of Miami Fleiss back in February, but she has since been dominant with solid form-lines all around her. The daughter of Better Than Ready has drawn wide in barrier 13, but with Jim Byrne booked again, she can cross over to find the front and then kick away on a track that she thrives on. The month between runs should freshen this filly up for the 1200m assignment, so we expect her to be very hard to beat.

Tony Gollan and Hugh Bowman combine with Mass Destruction, who finished second to Georgie’s Pride last start and should be better suited to the 1200m trip here. Last time these two matched motors, Mass Destruction headed Georgie’s Pride but peaked on his run late. From barrier nine, the Spirit Of Boom gelding is likely to get a lovely run in the first half of the field just stalking the speed. Bowman got a good feel for this horse last start and will be hoping to go one better this time around.

Rocketing By has been a touch disappointing this campaign in Queensland with a fifth and a seventh from his two runs, but if he brings his summer form to the table, he can win this. Three starts back, the son of So You Think was too good for Prime Star and dual Group 1 winner Ole Kirk, which should see the Matt Dunn-trained colt very competitive here. The outside alley is awkward, but Nash Rawiller’s class can compensate for the sticky gate. He needs to improve, but third-up may just see him peaking.
