Inglis Millennium 2YO runner-by-runner betting preview – Saturday 06, 2021
The $2m Inglis Millennium for the two-year-olds is the feature race at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday. A full field of 20 has been assembled for the 1100m Listed sprint, with the top weight a very warm favourite in Profiteer at $1.85. Ashema and Sneaky Five sit on the second and third lines of betting, while it is double figures and worse for the rest. Hi Hi Hi and Chameleon Choice look as though they will be handy from the wide gates, while the likes of Profiteer, Sneaky Five and Ashema shouldn’t be all that far away.
1 – Profiteer (6)
Race favourite Profiteer looks mighty hard to beat after a dominant win on debut at Flemington eight weeks ago. On that occasion, he was quickly into stride and was able to run his rivals ragged, before booting clear inside the final furlong to win by nearly 3L in slick time. He has had two trials and been too speedy in both, so he looks a natural sprinter who will be able to tough out a strongly run 1100m contest.
2 – Pegasi (9)
Tony McEvoy’s Pegasi wasn’t beaten all that far on debut at Geelong, before winning at that track three weeks later over 1147m to beat Lightsaber who won impressively at Sandown on Wednesday. Rachel King is airborne at the minute, and the midfield barrier is likely to be of benefit. He isn’t the worst $31 shot.
3 – Chameleon Choice (16)
Led throughout on debut at Flemington but was run down late over 1000m. He has since been to Randwick and was beaten comprehensively. Not in this.
4 – Keefy (11)
The sole Queenslander in the field is David Vandyke’s Keefy. The son of All Too Hard won stylishly on debut at Ipswich on a Heavy 8 track albeit in a field of three to earn his spot here. He hasn’t had a public jump out since, but Ryan Maloney has gone down for the ride which is worthy of note. One for the multiples maybe.
5 – Harlem Groove (3)
Won a Scone maiden in December before being beaten 12L at Randwick a fortnight ago. Can’t see him figuring here.
6 – Baranof (2)
John Thompson and Nash Rawiller combine with maiden galloper Baranof here. The colt was beaten 6L by Ranch Hand and Mura Mura on debut, before being 5.3L off Remarque which is handy enough form. He’d have to be on his game, but we can make a slight case for him to run a place.
7 – Mandalong Cash (14)
Capitalist colt Mandalong Cash was only really good late on debut when fourth behind Stay Inside which is a race that a number of these come out of, so there is merit there. The barrier makes it hard, but a genuine sprint will see him closing off well. Big smokey.
8 – Sneaky Five (17)
The Maher & Eustace filly was good on debut at The Valley when a comfortable winner in the Inglis Nursey and then went on to win the Golden Gift at this track and trip by 0.4L. This has been her target for a while now, but the barrier is far from ideal. Her trials between runs have both been plain. Happy to look elsewhere.
9 – Ashema (7)
Ashema ran third in the Stay Inside race, and while she ran third and was luckless when deep throughout, we cannot have her this short in the market, especially when Mandalong Cash who finished alongside her is $61. She was 2.3L off Acrobat on debut in the Inglis Nursery which is handy enough to see her figuring, and she has drawn well so should be respected. Just a touch unders.
10 – Mystic Gem (5)
Mystic Gem was the benefactor of a strong tempo in her only start at Doomben when she got up to win by half a length on the line. Jason Collett and Kris Lees are a good combination, and the soft gate will be handy. She will be finishing home strongly late, we just aren’t sold on her form.
11 – Nice For What (18)
Shalaa filly Nice For What had the race shot to bits on debut but just couldn’t quite fend off Dosh late in the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes on Oaks Day. She has had two trials since where she has been moderate and the wide alley isn’t the best.
12 – Jessica Rabbit (10)
Sooboog filly Jessica Rabbit was a good winner by 2L at Doomben last start as a $1.30 favourite, but we are confident that that form will not stand up here. Tim Clark is an advantage, but she will need to find lengths.
13 – Hi Hi Hi (15)
Kathy O’Hara and Gary Portelli are a force to be reckoned with of late, so they must be respected here aboard Hi Hi Hi. The Winning Rupert filly was a 3.5L winner on debut in her only start when leading all the way as a despised outside. She will go forward from barrier 15 which will see her in it for a long way, but we can’t see her winning this.
14 – Paper Daisy (4)
Joe Pride’s Paper Daisy won an average maiden on debut at Kembla Grange in nice style and trialled well prior. Drawn well in four should see her get favours in the run, but we don’t have her.
15 – Festival Dancer (1)
Festival Dancer was 6.5L off Acrobat on debut and then 6.5L off Hi Hi Hi so she would have to improve plenty. She has since been beaten as an odds on favourite at Kembla. Triple figures is fair.
16 – Mistaken Identity (20)
Matthew Smith has Mistaken Identity here from the outside alley which nearly puts an end to her chances. She was only 4L off Enthaar on debut and 1.4L off Mallory which is handy enough. Was very plain last time out though.
17EM1 – Arthur Francis (13)
Artur Francis was a touch unlucky when fifth in the race behind Stay Inside, but had clear running with enough time to make an impact and didn’t. Avdulla is a plus.
18EM2 – Rivabrook (12)
Sixth on debut to Stay Inside in what was a struggle late. Trials have been plain as well. Not here.
19EM3 – Emerald Bay (8)
She was beaten 5.2L on debut at Randwick in the Victory Vein Plate behind Captivant and She’s All Class and has won two trials in good style to suggest she would be some hope from a good gate if she gains a start.
20EM4 – Loose Love (19)
Ambitious at most.
Top Betting Picks For Inglis Millennium 2YO
Profiteer looks a genuine put in, take out job here and we expect to see him start a lot shorter than $1.85. Ashema and Sneaky Five are some hope, but they are too short in our opinion and would be better suited as double figure shots. For a bit of value outside of the favourite, Mandalong Cash, Pegasi and Baranof are rough hopes.
