The Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown sees a field of 14 contest the $175,000 event. Run over the 1300m, there should be plenty of speed thanks to Irithea, Sweet Deal and Reelem In Ruby. Athiri will run the favourite after a very good Summer in Queensland, ahead of Sweet Deal and Wandabaa, who share the second line. Horsebetting.com.au has found one we are keen on as well as the danger and a bit of value in the Group 3 event.

Athiri is the clear standout after winning four from eight last start, and only missing the place once. The James Cummings-trained mare raced out of her skin over the Summer, winning both the Razor Sharp Stakes and Nudgee Stakes, before being narrowly defeated by Krone in the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Classic on the Gold Coast. Krone franked that form to go on and win her next two, including a Group 1. From the inside alley she is going to get a lovely run just off the speed and be very hard to beat. She should be winning here and then heading north to Brisbane.

Sweet Deal looks to be the obvious danger, given she loves 1300m and is one from one at this track. The six-year-old Casino Prince mare won The Hunter at Newcastle back in November over this trip, and while she hasn’t been in the winner’s circle since, she has been around the money in Group 2 races in Sydney over the Autumn. Back to Group 3 level will suit, and from barrier five under good front running rider Nash Rawiller she should be right there on the speed and be within striking distance.

Air To Air has always shown a bit of ability, and while she has only won the one race in a Kembla Grange maiden, she has always been thrown in the deep end which makes it hard. She resumed with a fast finishing fourth in the Birthday Card Stakes at Rosehill, before finishing sixth in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes behind Fasika and Entriviere when last at the turn. Up to 1300m will suit this Smart Missile mare, and from barrier two under Robbie Dolan she should have the option to settle closer than last. She isn’t the worst here.
