The Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes sees a field of 10 go around for $160,000 at Randwick on Saturday. It is likely be a decent form race into the Brisbane Winter Carnival, as a number of these runners have tasted success in the Sunshine State in recent years. It is an even betting race, with Eleven Eleven the $3.30 favourite with Australian bookmakers ahead of Signore Fox and Victorem. Victorian visitor Alfa Oro should be leading from barrier one, while Splintex and Easy Eddie will also attempt to run it up tempo.

We were taken by Roheryn’s run in the Star Kingdom Stakes back on April 3 when the gelding charged home late to run third. That was a day when it was very hard to make any ground from out wide at Rosehill to be beaten 1.5 lengths. Jamie Kah won the Doncaster in these colours two weeks ago, and she is up in Sydney to steer this gelding. From barrier five, Roheryn will be stalking and finishing well towards the end.

Eleven Eleven has a terrific racing record with seven wins from 20 starts. The son of Fastnet Rock was a good winner of the Magic Millions Cup in January before returning with a sixth in the TJ Smith Stakes last start. He drops 1kg from that run and keeps Keagan Latham aboard who knows the horse very well having won on him six times from 11 starts. The four-year-old will be in a good spot in the run from barrier 10 and should be chiming in late as well.

Alfa Oro looks to have plenty of speed with six wins from 10 career starts, including three over the 1200m trip. The Matt Laurie-trained five-year-old has drawn perfectly to lead from the inside alley, and without a lot of genuine speed, he could get away with it. The son of Bachelor Duke has had three weeks between runs, which saw him finish third at Caulfield behind Sword of Mercy and Diamond Effort which is good enough for this. If he can bring his best, he will be in it for a long time.
